The wheel hoe is a hand tool used to weed between rows faster and more efficiently than with other hand held hoes.

The wheel hoe is an essential tool for weed control, and has used in organic market gardening for a long time. Its design is simple: the front wheel holds the weight of the tool, and the handles allows you to walk upright and push the hoe forward. Cultivation implements such as the oscillating hoe, goosefoot hoe, ridger, row marker, etc, can easily be switched around on the frame of the wheel hoe.

  • In the building tutorial, we present a model where a second can be mounted to the frame in order weed two rows at once.
  • There is also the option of adding another set of handles so that two people can push the wheel hoe, useful for heavier work such as ridging.
